Giresun University welcomed students from Akaki Tsereteli State University (ATSU) in Kutaisi, Georgia, for an internship programme held between 27 July and 9 August 2026.

During the programme, the visiting students undertook internships at the Faculty of Medicine of Giresun University in the fields of Urology, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, General Surgery, and Internal Medicine. The programme provided students with an opportunity to observe the practices of different clinical units and further develop their professional knowledge and experience in an international academic and clinical environment.

The two-week programme enabled the students not only to gain academic and clinical experience within a different healthcare and higher education system but also to interact with academics, healthcare professionals, and students from a different country. In this respect, the programme offered a valuable opportunity for professional development, intercultural learning, and international experience.

Alongside their internship activities, the visiting students also participated in social and cultural activities introducing them to Giresun and its cultural heritage. These activities provided opportunities to experience life in Türkiye and contributed to strengthening the cultural ties between Türkiye and Georgia through student interaction.

Organised in line with Giresun University’s internationalisation goals, the programme also contributed to further developing academic cooperation with Akaki Tsereteli State University and strengthening student mobility between the two institutions.
