Giresun University welcomed guests from Samarkand Pedagogical University, Uzbekistan, during the summer of 2026 as part of its efforts to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and promote academic and cultural exchange.

Throughout the programme, our guests had the opportunity to become acquainted with the academic and institutional environment of Giresun University and to meet with members of our academic community and students. Academic meetings and discussions focused on education, teacher education, internationalisation, and potential areas for future collaboration. Opportunities for increasing academic mobility, developing joint scholarly activities, and establishing sustainable cooperation between the two institutions were also explored.

The programme also included a variety of cultural and social activities designed to introduce our guests to the historical, natural, and cultural heritage of Giresun. These activities provided an opportunity to experience the local culture while further strengthening mutual understanding and highlighting the deep cultural ties between Türkiye and Uzbekistan.

The visit represented an important step in Giresun University’s internationalisation efforts and its growing cooperation with higher education institutions in Central Asia. It also contributed to strengthening the longstanding historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and Uzbekistan through academic exchange and institutional collaboration.

Giresun University was delighted to host our guests from Samarkand Pedagogical University and looks forward to building on this valuable exchange through future student and staff mobility, joint academic activities, and new international projects.
